Hello as the post says, looking for Greeting/Thank you/Birthday/Occasion Cards that are possibly made locally or from local artist/designer's. I could not think of where to look but figured there had to be someone other than hallmark mega-corp global making them. Thank you all in advance

One place to check is Etsy (http://www.etsy.com), but it's not necessarily "local." There are some wonderful, handmade, letterpress cards for sale there, though.

I would check out Magpie and D Squared, both on Highland in Davis Square.

Magpie for the win, and sometimes Dsquared.

Magpie should have a lot of locally manufactured cards, including my line, Two Trick Pony. We're not in Davis specifically, but we do make all of our cards in the Boston area!

There's a search function on Etsy that lets you look for things by location here: http://www.etsy.com/shop_local.php?ref=fp_nav_local

Harvard Book Store has a great selection of cards, many of them locally produced. It's at 1256 Mass Ave, next to Bartley's -- not the Coop, which is actually a Barnes & Noble in disguise.

Porter Square Books, I'm pretty sure, has a small selection of locally-made cards, and Bob Slate (on Mass Ave just north of Porter Square) probably has some too.

The Etsy search local doesn't let you search for both keywords and location, just by location, so you can't do something like search for greeting cards in Massachusetts (this is what I really hate about Etsy; the site seems designed with the premise that I would just like to buy random crap). Handmade Detective has cobbled together a custom Google search that will let you search Etsy by location and keyword simultaneously (http://www.handmadedetective.comze.com/) (but you need to make sure to read the directions carefully).

Bunch of Places:

Magpie in Davis (all local handmade artists)
Davis Squared in Davis

Etsy.com (local and all over)

Also, come spring there will be loads of Open Studios in Davis, Central, North Cambridge, and you'll have your pick.

Look up "Somerville Open Studios" - this year May 1 & 2
