can anyone recommend an honest mechanic near davis or porter square? it's time to make my car start again. i know it needs the bad fuel drained out, a gasket replaced on the valve covers, probably spark plugs checked, and a general checkup. it also needs new brake rotors & pads all around. i need someone who will do the needed work only at reasonable cost -- honesty is the most important thing here.

thanks!

(for the record, i cannot recommend you ever take a car to Fresh Pond Mobil for repairs. i did years ago, because it was closest to where my previous car broke down. they seemed to be one of the shops who did work quickly, and the car developed new problems within a week. once was coincidence, but when it developed a third problem in a row after being there twice, i got suspicious. a car shouldn't need to have a waterpump replaced, when my dad had replaced it the month before...)

Hi. Just wondering if anyone here plays Second Life. I've been getting into it lately, and I'm wondering if any of the people I meet there are actually Davis Square neighbors in the real world. :) My Second Life username is "Zero Medici."

Not too far from Davis Square--I have an opening for a housemate at my place between Union and Inman Squares. Rent is $500 a month, higher if you want to convert one of the large common rooms into a bedroom.

Our household is:

*Me, 36 year old single male straight astrophysicist, vegetarian except for fish
*Male slam poet, divorced, has 2 kids who visit 2 days every 2 weeks
*Singer in Boston Gay Men's Chorus, has a frog aquarium

We're laid back, not uptight. Our ages are mid 30s to mid 40s.

The place has dishwasher, disposer, basement with storage, washer, and dryer.

For a project for an Oral History class, I'm hoping to interview some people who have been part of science fiction of fantasy fandom in some way or another. In fandom I'm including convention attendance, reading and writing zines, participation in Internet fannish communities, reading and writing fanfiction, writing and listening to filk, and probably other things I can't think of. Let me know if you're interested, or forward this on to anyone you think might be interested (in Greater Boston), and I can send more information. Feedback here or to jadelennox AT suberic.net.

Thanks!
