Recommendations for Painters and General Contractors?

So,

I just bought a nice, big house near Porter (No, I'm not currently looking for roomates ;) One of the bath rooms was last redone in the early 1970s and...needs to be gutted and redone with something less pink and brown and more functional. I've exhausted my personal supply of connections to General Contractors. Each and every one of 'em won't even think about taking on any work before the fall. Does anyone out there have recommendations?

I'm also looking for local painters to do about 10 rooms of interior painting.
