A friend was about to throw out 1000+ comic books (from 1988-1998 or so) from Marvel & DC, so I temporarily rescued them, because honestly, it hurts to see readable material recycled. Does anyone know of a local organization that would take them (I can drop them off, seeing as they're sitting in the back of my car right now anyway)?

(They're not moldy or too torn -- quite in readable shape -- but they have never been kept in archival (i.e. keeps 'em even marginally valuable) storage so I know they're useless as collectibles.)

Hi all.
So within the past month or so, perhaps longer, i havn't been paying too close attention, there's been a group playing in harvard square every so often. they consist of three musicians: an electric bass player, a drummer, and a saxophone player. the bassist and drummer are white and the sax player is black, they're all rather young, and more importantly they're freekin' amazing! i was just curious if anyone reading this knows if the group has a name and/or if they play in any of the bars or clubs in the area. that's all. i hope everyone's having a wonderful sunday :)

Hi everyone,

So, when my fiancee and I moved in together, we realized we had a lot of duplicate stuff. That doesn't work so well in a 1br apartment. So, we've got a virtual yardsale going on at Morrison Avenue! We've got good stuff cheap. Take a look at the list of items and if anything interests you, give us a holler at shanalyons(at)gmail.com.

Pictures of all of them are available at:

My note yesterday about building a café in the Carli Fence property on the Community Path, triggered substantial interest. I'm delighted! Now let's see if we can make this happen.

[livejournal.com profile] ah42 says s/he's adopting the idea, and I say Godspeed! It needs an entrepreneur to make it into a business. [livejournal.com profile] ron_newman pointed out that a much larger property, the MaxPac site, will lie alongside the bike path and will extend the path; but that project is currently planned to be strictly residential. We should encourage that developer to include space for a pathside business as well.

Here are some people to contact to advocate for a pathside café. )

And, of course, tell your friends.
