Anyone know where I can get the bottom of a bottle cut off?

I bet Daniel Maher Stained Glass (http://www.dmstainedglass.com/) would have the requisite equipment and expertise.

Soak a thread in lighter fluid. Tie it tightly around the bottle where you want it cut, then light it. After ten seconds, plunge it into ice water, then tap it firmly with something soft but substantial (like a small hammer with a thick towel wrapped around it.)

Boom.

yeah, that works amazingly well. tie the thread first, then saturate with fluid applied with a q-tip... lessy messy on the fingers/etc.

do wear protective eyewear, gloves, do it IN a metal sink for instance, but a small container of water right there, not on an acrylic rug ;)

I've also heard something about rolling a coin around the inside. No idea if it actually works. Have you heard of this?

Never have — sounds pretty implausible.
