If you're looking for a place to take your family for the Jewish high holidays this year - Temple B'nai Brith, where I am a member, is offering a new format for family services, and they're open to the community and do not require tickets. The services are designed for parents to accompany their children - there's one for school-aged kids and another for 'tots' ages 3-6. They're also a great opportunity to meet our new Assistant Rabbi, Eliana Jacobowitz - Eliana has been the director our children's school for two years and has officially joined our religious leadership (along with Phil Weiss, who has been our religious leader since the 1980s) now that she's finished rabbinical school.
The family services will be offered on the first day of Rosh Hashanah and on the morning of Yom Kippur - starting at 9:30 for the older kids, and 10:00 for the younger ones.
There are regular services at TBB as well that run throughout the day including the 2nd day of Rosh Hashanah, though we hope you can reserve a ticket for those (or pick up a walk-in ticket if you aren't so big on advance planning - if there are synagogues where "tickets" are the kind of thing that sell out like hotcakes and get scalped on the street, TBB isn't one of them. Nobody will be turned away at the door.) More information on all of our high holiday service or on the synagogue in general is at
