Songs about Somerville?
Mar. 12th, 2010 04:00 pmWinter Hill Reborn started this and then Wicked Local Somerville picked it up, so let's bring it here, too.
What songs do you know that mention Somerville or any particular places in Somerville? Here are three we've found so far:
Somerville, by David Misch, 1973 (lyrics)
Wintertime in Somerville, by Local Radio
Somerville, by the Pernice Brothers
(the last time we had this discussion, over three years ago)

Date: 2010-03-12 09:24 pm (UTC)"Somerville, Oh Somerville
The people there are pissah.
Somerville, Oh Somerville
Listen to me, Mistah.
There's Teale Square, there's Ball Square
There's Davis Square, there's lotsa squares...
Somerville, Oh Somerville...
The people there are pissah."
Even though the gig was at the Lizard Lounge in Cambridge, it got a huge cheer from the crowd.

Date: 2010-03-13 01:22 pm (UTC)I hate that song.
She also sang a song with one line that goes "We are the dogs of Somerville." Mostly I think she would insert appropriate locale depending on where she was performing, but since she's from (or lives/lived in for a long while) Somerville maybe that one stayed in even when performed elsewhere?
