Never mind, the phone has been claimed.

I just found a really nice phone lying on the sidewalk on Somerville Ave in Union Square. I left a message for the number listed as home in the contacts list, but I thought I'd post here too in case anyone had lost a phone recently. Leave a comment or send me a pm describing the phone if you think it might be yours and I'll get back to you.

For those of you who are so inclined, there's a good opportunity to see the ISS pass overhead tonight. It was also visible last night. My fiancé and I checked it out, and it was pretty neat.

Details here: http://spaceweather.com/flybys/flybys.php?zip=02145

Put in your own ZIP if you're not right near the city.

Translation of space nerdery for the non dorks:

Look WSW at about 8:37pm. Keep looking. It may take a couple of minutes to be visible, because ZIP codes aren't precise locations. The magnitude will be -3.8, which will make it the brightest thing in the sky, other than the moon. It's slated to be at about 65 degrees. Straight up is 90 degrees, so you might need to crane your neck a bit once it gets overhead, but nothing too awful.

What to look for: It's kind of like a really bright star moving across the sky. It's much faster than a plane, but nothing like a shooting star or anything like that. You'll definitely know it when you see it. If you're not sure you're looking in the right direction, scan the sky. It's really very obvious when you see it! It's not quite dark yet at 8:37pm, but the space station is bright enough that you'll still be able to see it!

A2Empowerment is a Somerville-based nonprofit company dedicated to empowering women through education. Since its establishment in 2008, the company has awarded over 150 scholarships to young women in Cameroon. The project is coordinated by A2Empowerment and Peace Corps Volunteers working in Cameroon. Recipients are chosen by A2Empowerment based on need and merit. Approximately $65 USD will cover tuition, fees and books for a year of school. The project is set up as a Peace Corps Partnership Project, so all funding is strictly monitored by the Peace Corps and A2Empowerment. To date, all company overhead costs have been covered by the company co-founders, allowing for the full amount of all donations to be put toward scholarships. I'm looking for advice for whether or not to try to repair my digital camera - and if so, if Camera Inc in Davis does that (and if people recommend them or have other ideas). Its a Canon Powershot that I purchased when Someday Cafe was still in existence (a barista there loved the one he got so I got the same!) It suits my purposes fine, and I don't have a smart phone or I'd be fine with those camera capabilities. But its getting temperamental, keeps flipping to video mode and getting stuck there - I don't know enough to know if its fixable or if I'd spend much the same money to buy something new.
Thanks for any insights/recommendations.
