Long time listener, first time caller/poster.

I'm one of the people who helps organize the HONK! festival that takes place right here in Somerville each year. If you haven't heard of it, HONK! is a festival of activist street bands that brings music and spectacle to all corners of Davis Square one day of the year, bands to community centers/areas, a community parade from Davis to Harvard Square, and some other cool stuff. More info can be found at www.honkfest.org.

I wanted to let you know two things about HONK! this year:

1) HONK! is happening a week early this year on October 1st, 2nd and 3rd instead of our usual Columbus Day weekend schedule so we don't conflict with Yom Kippur.

2) If you dig HONK! as much as I do and want to support it, please consider contributing to our Kickstarter campaign to raise funds to help bring bands from afar (only 18 days left!):

http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/dnb/2011-honk-festival-of-activist-street-bands

(anything you can do to pass that URL around to other HONK! fans would be much appreciated)

Hope to see you all at HONK! this year!

Many of you are (hopefully!) familiar with the Post-Meridian Radio Players who have been bringing live audio drama to Davis Square these past few Halloweens.  I am designing costumes for a portion of this year's Big Broadcast, The Legend of Sleepy Hollow

Many hands make light work, so I am recruiting people to help sew for the show!  You must:

*Be able to sew in a straight line
*Be available to sew during September

Having your own sewing machine is a bonus but not strictly required as there will be plenty of cutting, ironing, and handwork to be done during group work days, which will be every Saturday in September except the 17th.

Please leave a comment if you would like to become involved!

I'm looking for someone to do a small interior painting job. Basically repainting the ceiling of a room approx 10x12 that has suffered some water damage. The leak was fixed close to a year ago, so it's completely dry; however, my tenants didn't mention the discoloration when the mentioned the leak; I noticed it on walkthrough today (they just moved out). The new tenants don't move in for a week & a half, and I'd love to get it taken care of before then, so someone who can come in on quick notice would be a huge benefit. Like I said, small simple job; I'd do it myself if I a) had a bit more free time and b) wasn't a total klutz.

If you know anyone who might be able to do this on short notice, please let me know. Thanks!
ETA: If you have someone to recommend, please provide a full name, the name of their company (if they have one - don't mind working with an individual for such a small job) and contact information.

i've got cell service from verizon wireless. sometime between bedtime last tuesday and coffee o'clock on wednesday, all voice service mysteriously stopped. but only in somerville ! and, weirdly, only for some phones. srsly - the dude in the store said only some models were affected and they had no list of which those were. when i've asked about a fix, i've been told both "real soon" and "by 9pm on saturday...oh, wait that was 20 minutes ago...uh, i really don't know".

calling in is getting pretty dull - does anyone have a link to a service status website ? if i spend anymore time fruitlessly groping their website my brain will melt.

thanks !
