Eastern Bank bought Wainwright, so my main account has been with Eastern since then. My experience over the past few months trying to get an answer to a fairly simple question from them has convinced me that their ability to communicate with customers, and their respect for customers, is about the same as (or worse than) the giant corporate banks. Yuck!

Are there other nice local banks that actually care about customers and give personal service and communicate effectively, with branches at good locations around here, that you'd recommend?

I wonder if any other Ward 7ers got the notice yesterday (we got ours by phone) that the polling place for the upcoming election moved from its old location at West Somerville School to somewhere on Alewife Brook Parkway.  I didn't catch where the new polling place actually was....

Has anyone been to the new Indian place (Masala) in Teele yet? Is it

any good. (It's where Tip-Top Thai used to be)

I just got the Groupon today for them, but wanted to be

fore-warned... I must say, that when they list "Yellow walls & framed

art" as one of the highlights, I'm a little worried.

This month's SomerStreets festival, Rolling on the Mystic, takes place on Shore Drive, Saturday from noon to 4 pm.

Mudflat pottery studio is holding a Grand Opening celebration Saturday from noon to 4 pm at their new home in the old Broadway Theatre, 81 Broadway. Mayor Curtatone will cut the ribbon at noon.

The Somerville Arts Council presents Brasiliero, a celebration of Brazilian Independence Day, Saturday from 3-7 pm in Union Square. Lots of great music and food here.

Dormition Greek Orthodox Church holds its annual Greek Music and Food Festival Friday (5-11 pm), Saturday (noon-11 pm), and Sunday (noon-9 pm). They're at 29 Central Street, on the big hill between Somerville Ave. and Summer Street.

The Italian Feast of the Healing Saints Cosmas and Damian is a North End-style festival on a small side street in East Cambridge, a few blocks from the Somerville line. It takes place Saturday (2-11 pm) and Sunday (1-10:30 pm). On Sunday they parade statues of the saints all over East Somerville and East Cambridge, including a stop in Union Square at 2:30 pm.

And of course, Theatre@First's As You Like It in Seven Hills Park, Friday and Saturday at 8 pm, Sunday at 3 pm. Emperor Norton's Stationary Marching Band will perform at 7 pm before the Friday show (only). Support your local neighborhood theatre company!

Hi all.

This cleaning out really seems to be a never ending process.

we have a 2-drawer, metal vertical file cabinet that we need to get rid of. It looks basically like this:

http://www.staples.com/Staples-Vertical-File-Cabinet-26-1-2-2-Drawer-Letter-Size-Light/product-nr_470382

I'd love $20 for it, but I'm also flexible if someone can take it sooner rather than later.

We also have a Thule Cargo Box (to go on top of a car), but I'm at work and don't have the model or measurement information here with me. I'll make that a separate post or edit back here when I get home. If anyone thinks they are interested, feel free to drop me a line here or PM. It's of this style, but is many years old now, so isn't as swoopy and stream-lined looking: http://thule.com/en-US/US/Products/Cargo-Carriers/Boxes/688XT-Atlantis-2100

Thanks!
