I think I'm going to start turning into that cranky old Kids Get Off My Lawn lady, but Davis Square LJ is in the news lately. So lately everyone who is hosting anything is posting it here.

We've got yard sales in Watertown, random fora in Boston that have nothing to do with S'ville, let alone Davis. People who market events have added this to their list, and it's making me sad for the community aspect of the community LJ.

Personally, I'd be happy for moderators to pull down postings like these pretty quickly before we lose any sense of being a Davis Square LJ and not just a place to announce all events. I mean, even if it's at least S'ville related, Magoun, Teele, even Union Sq. are connected in a real direct community way, but lately the random stuff seems to be getting out of hand, and I imagine it's going to escalate quickly as the lawsuit news puts DSLJ in front of people's eyes.

thoughts?

Would anyone like free Gain liquid detergent (big bottle) and a couple boxes of generic scented dryer sheets? Turns out my scented laundry items are causing my girlfriend's migraines so out they go. :) I'd be happy to arrange for a handoff in the square.

Anyone want a canister of BioSpot anti-flea/tick carpet powder? This one right here. I live in Winter Hill, but could drop it off at your place, though with my day job and toddler, that might need to be on the weekend.

Found in Davis Square: a bicycle light.   Normally these found posts ask people to PM with identifying info to confirm the keys/phone/etc is actually theirs.   In this case, it is somewhat generic non customized product, but if you lost a bike light at least PM with the brand/model and any comments on where you think you might have lost it.

Bonus points to the first person to point out the irony of this posting vis a vis the other recent bicycle light posting.

The Summer is a great time to find treasures on Craig's List, but I'm under a little bit of a logistical time crunch, so I'm sending out a message that I'm looking for a dining room table.

If you, or someone you know, is looking to get rid of a mid size, wood, preferably square or rectangle wooden table, please let me know! I would like to try and replace the one we have before the in-laws come this weekend.

Our current table does not seat more than 4 comfortably due to the position of the legs. It's a great craft table though. So if you are in the market it could be yours!

I wrote to the company and asked when it would be finished.  Their reply:

We do not have a firm opening date at this time, however, we hope to open the store this summer. As you may know, many unforeseen events can affect the completion of a new store. We hope to serve you soon at the new location.
