[identity profile] new england real ale exhibition
The New England Real Ale eXhibition was founded in Underbones at Redbones with a few firkins of cask-conditioned beers in 1997. After that we moved to the George Dilboy VFW Post in Davis Square, who hosted us for years as NERAX grew to become the largest continuously running Real Ale festival in the United States. Our next festival will take place near Union Square at Aeronaut Urban Farmhouse and Brewery on March 26 to 29, 2014. We expect to serve over 100 beers and ciders from the UK, Germany, and New England!

Cask-conditioning is the traditional way to serve beer. The beer is never filtered, frozen, or filled with fizz. The cool temperature and natural carbonation allows the full flavors of these artisanally brewed beers to emerge. Real Ale is the real deal, made to be enjoyed with your friends. To learn more, we have a special Tutored Tasting session from 5-6 pm on Thursday evening with our guest Steve Crossland from Loch Ness Brewing in Scotland.

Tickets will be available online until Tuesday night March 25, and after that a limited number of admissions will be available at the door.

Cheers!

During my travels today, I noticed that the Hubway Bicycle Stations are being installed throughout the City. This includes a brand-new station at Trum Field! As Alderman, I requested this location for consideration and I'm happy to announce that it was installed today!

To purchase a monthly or annual Hubway account, click here. Day passes can be purchased right at the kiosk.

I just got a call (from a New York area code) claiming to be from National Grid. The person, who would not give her name, said they needed access to my apartment to replace my gas meter and appliances. She really really wanted me to make an appointment when I would stay home for 5 hours and wait for them, during the regular work week. She insisted it is a state law that they have to do this every 7 years.

1) I started gas service at this address last month. Why the *obscenity* didn't they do this THEN?
2) My gas meter is in the building's common area. They could just walk in, or ask the landlord to show them.
3) My National Grid account only covers gas for the stove, and the stove was installed in February. What are they replacing? What do they THINK they're replacing?

This feels like some sort of scam. I just can't figure out what they would be trying to cheat me out of, whether it's National Grid or somebody else.
