If you want to vote in the September 9 state primary election, you need to register to vote by this Wednesday, August 20. That is also the last day that you can change parties, or change your residential address for the election.
You can register at your town or city hall until 8 pm on Wednesday, or you can download this registration form, fill it in, print it out, sign it, and mail it in. It must be postmarked on or before this Wednesday. This page has more information on voter registration.
This is an important election! On the Democratic primary ballot, there are contested races for Governor, Lieutenant Governor, Treasurer, Attorney General, Middlesex County DA, Ed Markey's former congressional seat (Medford, Arlington, parts of Cambridge), and Carl Sciortino's former state representative seat (Somerville wards 4 and 7, and adjoining parts of Medford). (The Republican primary has only a contest for Governor.)
I welcome all comments discussing the election.
