Theatre@First is proud to announce auditions for Francis Beaumont's comedy The Knight of the Burning Pestle! This almost forgotten Elizabethan gem combines the best of Shakespearean-style farce with a modern, meta flavor. Recently performed at Shakespeare's Globe Theatre in London, this play is true high camp with no small roles.
Auditions are on Thursday Feb. 5th and Friday Feb. 6th at Unity Church. To sign up for an audition slot please visit: http://www.theatreatfirst.org/shows/knight_of_burning_pestle/auditions.shtml
Auditioners may prepare a Monologue and an a cappella song for the audition, but these are optional.
We are also looking for a small (1-4 people) house band. The play will be done in traditional Renaissance style, and many of the songs are referenced directly in the text. However, melodies and instrumentation can be flexible. Please see the website for more details.
There will be a special autism-friendly performance during the second week of the show. Actors will be briefed beforehand on how to respond to possible disruptions from the audience, and there will be extra trained volunteers for this performance.
We’ll see you in February!
