Hello, this is Meghann Ackerman from the City of Somerville with information about the end of the snow emergency. Somerville's snow emergency will end, and normal parking rules will go back into effect, today at 9 p.m.

Due to the late hour, owners of vehicles parked in city and school lots will have extra time to move their cars from the lots. Normally cars must be moved within two hours of the end of the emergency. This time only, vehicles may be left overnight, but must be moved by 8 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 6, so that the lots can be safely cleared of snow. Permit enforcement will resume at 9 p.m. on Saturday, so make sure your parking permit is visible by then.

Property owners are reminded that they have 6 daylight hours tomorrow to clear sidewalks of snow and ice.

We appreciate your patience and cooperation during this storm. For more information on post-snow policies, please visit http://www.somervillema.gov/snow. For more information or to submit a non-emergency service request, please dial 311 or 617-666-3311 from cellphones or outside Somerville.
