In case you are looking for something to do on what is rumored to be a gorgeous day this Saturday, the kick off for Mayor Joseph A. Curtatone's Fitness Challenge is being held at the Somerville High School Gym at 81 Highland Avenue from 12-5. There are going to be a lot of activities for kids, as well as some great treats for those who sign up for the challenge and other events. A few emails went out over Resistat about this, but since I had not yet seen it mentioned, I wanted to post it for those who many not be on the list!

(Disclaimer, I am participating in this event, but I am not an organizer, for questions, please use the contact information provided on the News Release)

I just saw an announcement that a winter farmer's market was going to be in the SHS gym on Saturday from 12-5 - was this announcement wrong, or is buying and eating local produce one of the many activities that promote fitness?

Answering my own question - The flyer for the fitness challenge includes the indoor farmers market - so they are not independent events.

So if you're craving local produce that people can squeeze out of the ground or their greenhouse in March, or store all winter - head on over there!

I got this email from Enterprise Farm on Thursday:

Speaking of which, we will be making a surprise appearance in Somerville this Saturday (3/20) to participate in the Mayor's “Shape Up Somerville” campaign in the Somerville High School gymnasium. Enterprise Farm will be selling greens, assorted veggies and farm products alongside other local growers (for a full list, please email)... Four Star with their grains and local flour, Austin Brothers with their local meats for sale and info about their meat CSA. In addition, our friends from MetroPed will be there to help promote our local farm share.

Mostly, we want invite you to stop on by, find out how you are doing, and answer any questions you might have.

The Mayor's "Shape Up Somerville" Winter Farmer's Market and Health Fair Kick Off Event is Saturday, March 20th, from Noon - 5pm at Somerville High School, 93 Highland Ave. Somerville, MA in the gymnasium.

Hope to see you there!

Dave Jackson, and the Ent Crew
