The Museum of Modern Renaissance at 115 College Ave., also known as the former Masonic hall with all the Russian frescos, is having free concerts this weekend for Somerville Open Studios:

1st Annual Spring Music Festival hosted by Museum of Modern Renaissance

This inaugural event will take place on Saturday, May 1st from 12:00-6:30 p.m. As part of “Somerville Open Studio”--admission to Festival and Museum is free on May 1st & 2nd. . The line-up of accomplished performers participating in this spring musical feast is outstanding!

12:00- 4:45 Meet Ekaterina Sorokina & Nicholas Shaplyko, co-founders of the Museum of Modern Renaissance.

5:00 – 6:15 Magnificent Concert of Gifted Violinists from the studio of Miriam Friend at New England Conservatory. Nine exceptionally talented violinists will perform masterworks from the solo violin repertory. Among these young violinists are international prizewinners, soloists from some of the world's most prestigious venues, and participants in top music festivals.

The program will explore the soul of the violin, through the lens of composers from Bach to Bartok to Ben Haim.
