I've used you to learn where to sell books and where to scan an oversized-picture, now I'll use you to get away from you.

Anyone know what the Western Mass LJ communities are? The specific mission is to post a missed connection ad for a friend who got too much of a knot in her throat to tell a girl she saw in Northampton on 5/1 that she wanted to talk and exchange phone numbers. The more general purpose is to have a list of communities for myself in case I come back to Western Mass. General communities and communities with specific-focuses on GLBTI, the arts, just throw-it-at-me-and-maybe-it'll-stick, wanted. I'm thinking mostly Hampden, Hampshire, and maybe Franklin counties.

Also, I'm not sure how to search a LJ community 'cause the only search feature I've seen searches all of LJ. Help?

pioneervalley is the main one, but I see you already found it.

To search for communities, guess some interests they might have listed, and search by interest, using the LJ directory. For example, communities interested in "northampton". (Many LJ directory features are available to paid users only, so I'm not sure if this will work for you if you have a free account)

What do I do if I want to search the back entries of a specific community?

Open google and enter this in the search bar:

site:community.livejournal.com/davis_square "airplane noise"

if you want to search the davis square community for posts involving airplane noise. substitute a different community for davis_square and replace "airplane noise" with your own query to search for something else.

Search on LJ is weak, and not all posts are available to google - certainly not friendslocked posts (which you can view in a community if you join the community). Since you're looking for a recent missed connection, you don't really need search for a specific community - just look at that community's recent posts and read those. Or did I misunderstand the goal?
