About 15 x 15 x 23 inches, about right for a medium-sized dog (and WAY too big for my cat, who likes his cozy new backpack-style carrier much better!)

End opens like door or can be removed, top can be removed too. Yes, I'm sure a shelter would love to have it, but I'm avehicular, so you're quite welcome to bring it to the shelter of your choice!

Hm, mind telling us more about this backpack-style cat carrier? This sounds like the sort of thing I've been looking for to transport my cat to the vet via bicycle.

I'll take it. I was going to buy a larger carrier for my cat. He's only 9 months old and already weighs 12 lbs. Drop me an email- darkblacksky at yahoo dot com and we can make arrangements.

I have the Snoozer Roll Around Carrier (http://www.snoozerpetproducts.com/roll-around-travel-pet-carrier-p-32.html), which can be used as a rolling carrier, a backpack, and a car seat, and it is awesome.

Jacoby likes it, too:

Thanks! I ended up getting one off ebay as well (without handle/wheels), and the trip just now was *so* much nicer. Having her off the ground (on my back) helped a lot when small hyper dogs would enter the vet's office and sniff at me.
