Thank you for sharing your opinion. Posting somewhat disapproving feedback is not always the easiest decision to make, and I appreciate reading your comments.
Best Bees Company is rooted in the Davis Square area. I have been working with honey bees in Medford (a 15 minute walk from Davis) since 2006. I have taught courses to college students in Medford, where students study live honey bee hives through plexiglass to gain insight into animal behavior. Moreover, the majority of Best Bees clients are in Medford and within walking distance from Davis Square.
As you have probably heard in the news, Karyn, honey bees populations are steadly declining. We still do not know why. I have published multiple papers on honey bee health and immune function - all from work done in a lab right up the street from Davis Square. I started this company with the objective to raise research funds to put towards improving honey bee health. Through this posting, Davis Square residents have an opportunity to join this important cause and prevent pollinator decline.
Improving honey bee populations is something of benefit to everyone. Residents of the Davis Square area are generally concerned about the environment and seem to appreciate hearing about new green businesses and initiatives in their community. I hope that with this writing, you, too, are now convinced that Best Bees Company is a great match for people reading Davis Square Live Journal, and perhaps even something you might consider participating in to help improve our local ecology.
