Updated Somerville Crime Maps:

There are several options at the top of the page - you can:

- Change the date range back through Dec 29, 2008
- Check / Uncheck  the different crime types
- Change the time range (all day vs Midnight - 6am, 6am to Noon, Noon - 6pm and 6pm - Midnight)
- You can zoom in/out etc., as you would with any google map as well.
- Click any of the icons on the map to find out more information

I live near Tufts, on the west side and I think a lot of the crimes that go on around here that are reported to the tuft PD don't get mentioned in the somerville news or journal. Most tufts students report the crimes to TPD and then they report it to SPD. I read the Tufts paper almost everyday (when they're in session) and it seems like a lot more crime goes on here than is reported on those maps. I can't site a particular instance but it seems like every week at least one or two reports make it into the paper up there but often times not in the typical Somerville sources.

Again, thanks for this super effort. Can you remind me what your information sources are? Are there certain crimes that don't make it into your sources? The police department should really be sponsoring something like this!
