Seeking a plumber/gasfitter

I'm looking for a plumber or gasfitter who can run a gas line for my dryer. The run itself is no more than 10', and since I'm on the first floor and there's a basement it'll be quite straightforward.

Here's what I found on DSLJ about plumbers:

• HUB Plumbing, mentioned by notnatalie.
• Barrell Plumbing, recommended by aidoneus.
• Paulo's Plumbing, recommended by mr_fancy_pants.

Any other recommendations? Any experience with these folks? Thanks!

Update: Does anyone have any idea how much this work should cost?

They're all expensive but I have liked Malcolm and Sons out of Cambridge- they answer your call, come on time, and are clean.

Seconding the recommendation for Tipperary. Kevin has done quite a bit of work for me, and I can't say enough good things. Reliable, charming, and inexpensive.

Since I was the original source of Tipperary Plumbing recommendation, I cannot exactly second it, but I can certainly reinforce. We've had Kevin trouble shoot and fix our gas furnace, and he's made the best possible impression - very thoughtful, professional, and reasonably priced.

re: cost - running a new gas line requires a permit from the city. You may want to call and see how much the permit will cost - and that may give you better idea of total expense. Off the top of my head, I would think with permitting, it would be about $800-$1k. (We ran far more extensive lines in my 2-family for $3k, which is what I'm basing my probably-inaccurate ballpark on.)

Also, I recommend Mark Adams Plumbing in Billerica - they gave us the least expensive quote for the laundry lines and did good work.

I use Allen Plumbing also. I agree they aren't cheap, and they are responsive and do good work.

I had a terrible experience with HUB Plumbing, where they caused thousands of dollars of water damage to a floor and tried very hard not to pay for it. I would never work with them again and advise others not to.

I recently had an on-demand water installed and had good luck with 2 Rivers. It's a small shop, but did good work. Price was reasonable; mid-range for the estimates I got.

I can disrecommend Barrell Plumbing. My previous landlord hired them to convert our apt to gas heat and they installed the ducts backwards. I complained for *three* weeks to my landlord that I had no heat and got the big brush off until he finally got off his ass and had them come out ... and they admitted that they had installed the system backwards and that I really did have no heat.
