Apartment hunting advice

I've lived in the Boston area long enough to know the apartment hunting routine, and I've never had too much of an issue before, but for some reason, I'm just not having luck finding much this time. We'd really like to stay in the Davis-Teele-Ball area. If any of you know of a 1 or 2 bedroom apartment that allows dogs, is less than 1300 a month, and is available August 1, please let me know.

I concur that it's rough out there at the moment! My only thinking is that in the recession, people really can't afford the upfront costs of moving, so they're staying put unless they're facing a real life changer like getting married or moving out of state.

Yeah, I saw it and it looks great. The problem is that it's available today, which means that it's really unlikely it'll still be available Aug 1.

Aw, boo. Well, worth asking maybe? I'm emailing people for places I like to get info and we're not moving until August/September. I've done it in the past and a landlord held a place for us for a month. You never know!

That just popped up, so I called and set up an appointment for this evening. At that price in that neighborhood, I would not be surprised if it's pretty gross, but you never know. I've been surprised by places in this market before, so it wouldn't be the first time I found a gem.
