Is there anywhere in Somerville where I can donate clothes? There is a GoodWill store right in Davis Square, but according to their website, they do not accept donations. I have to bring it to the GoodWill store in Arlington. Any other places nearby? Thanks in advance.

*blink* the website's dead wrong, then; i've dropped off several loads of stuff in the last couple of months or so there.

The Methodist church on College Ave has a shelter that accepts donations. Go up College from Davis and it's on the corner of the first street to the left, a massive building. Go to the door on the side street.

There are some Planet Aid bins in the parking lot of the Star Market on broadway. There's also a Salvation Army on broadway in Magoun Square.

Yeah. Not only does the Davis Square Goodwill (the one catty corner to the liquor store) take donations, but they have a sign telling people to not steal stuff left outside when they're closed.

The website lies like rug.

I pick up the bus right across from there, and they don't seem to pay much attention to donations left there--they're often left for a long time, it seems. But they did bother to post a sign saying not to touch the donations.

The Goodwill in Central seems much better run about these things.

How odd, I have brought in donations MANY a time and have never been told to go elsewhere. I would just take your stuff into the store (not just leave it outside).

There's a donation bin in Union Square too (a planet aid one?) right near Tir Na Nog.

Also there's a Salvation Army store down Broadway in Magoun Square, near Davis, that has a drop-off bin.

I'm pretty sure there's a Planet Aid bin next to the Subway fast-food joint on Elm St. just outside of Davis Square. But yeah, the Goodwill in Davis has great big bins to put donations in.

Second street to the left (first one is Park; the second one is Chapel--that's the one you want.)

There is a Planet Aid bin next to Buy-Rite liquors, where the bike path crosses Mass Ave.
