also, i've been in situations like this before, where things are only open annoying hours, i work, and i have animals to care for. and the person was just suggesting that hey, maybe you put something aside to pick up a package. which won't take all night. it's inconvenient, for sure, but for this package i don't see why the OP can't just go pick it up after work, and then go to RI if it is imperative she be there to care for the horse every day. (though i gotta say, the way the comment was worded i don't get the impression this is a necessity.)
or, there have been days where i ask for a longer lunch, or to leave a bit early to do something like this. then, in the future, they can have their packages delivered elsewhere or use a different service. because the sad answer to this post is that basically, there's nothing more you can do in this particular situation that hasn't been done. it's not like we're hiding some secret answer regarding UPS that we'll give up only if we feel the OP's situation is impossible enough :p
