Out on a walk today, I noticed several patches of crocuses in full bloom.  I guess spring really is here...

YAY! I always take a picture of the first crocus I see each year, and got one this weekend of just a single bud. I can't wait to see them in full bloom.

They're my favorite flower/sign of spring. See icon. :)

First crocus of the season bloomed two weeks ago in my yard. He was a brave little guy, but he's now been joined by a hell of a lot of friends. Yay.

aw, now i'm sad i don't have a crocus icon to use!

this is my favorite part though. i can remember these little guys always struggling through first in my gramma's garden growing up.

Mine have broken ground but not bloomed yet. Looks like about a week or 10 days to go. Given that it's partially shaded, my yard is sort of in a different and more northernly state than the rest of Davis. :-)

Two weeks ago! Dang. We still had snow completely covering our yard until the end of last weekend.

I pointed out snowdrops to [livejournal.com profile] audioboy a week ago. I was very pleased to see them.

That flowerbed is in the south side of the house, the little guy is in a cushy spot. Also, these are species crocuses, the tiny ones, rather than the big mammoth crocuses you'll see later in the season. Those are still a ways away! :)

My large crocus come up before my species crocus, actually - but that's probably aided by being in a significantly warmer spot. Every year I think I am going to move some of the big ones (they're not very visible), and every year I forget.

Heh. I always have grandiose plans for what I'm going to move where, and then it almost never happens.
