New Tires

Hi All, after a long weekend away to attend my sister's first gallery opening I came home to a flat tire. I have roadside assistance coming to put the spare on (I figure I pay for it might as well use it even though I know how to change it myself), but now I am left wondering; Where should I go for good yet reasonably priced tires in the Davis area? I'll need at least 2, but may go ahead & get 4. I've got a corolla, so we're not talkin' any special sport or SUV tires. Just decent all weather run of the mill tires that I won't have to sacrifice my first born for. THANKS!

Arco Tire, on Clarendon, just off Broadway in Teele Square. Reasonably priced and very quick.

Costco out near Wellington. Best prices around, and really quick.

I love Arco Tire so much - their prices are incredible (they PRIDE themselves on beating everyone's estimates), and as a lady who knows nothing about cars, I appreciate how delighted they are to explain what's going on and why it needs to be fixed. I had 3 tires put on there in November for $300 total, parts, labor, balancing, the whole shebang. When I had a single tire replaced last 6 months earlier at the place near Highland and Willow, it cost me $230. Granted, the tires for my car are expensive, but...yeah, just go to Arco.

I'm generally happy with Town Fair Tire. I've used the one in Nashua for a few years, and I just bought a set of tires from the store in Everett. The initial purchase experience is nothing special, but every time I go in for a flat repair or a quick rotate-and-balance it costs me almost nothing (the last flat repair was free).

For what it's worth, Town Fair has also done right by me and offers free repairs when you buy their tires. I'm really liking the sound of this "Arco" place, though.

Tires, being huge chunks of rubber with steel in them that cost a few hundred bucks for a set, are actually often worth repairing. I've had a road-side guy charge $20 for an on-the-spot repair that's been fine for a year so far (somebody else's car), and I've taken advantage of Town Fair's free repairs once too with no trouble.

This. They will also patch flat tires for free if you're a member, as we found one time while we were up there, came back to the car, and found we had a flat.

If you go to the information desk, and say you want a one day pass, they will gladly give you one free of charge. You can buy tires and never return.

I, too, love Town Fair Tire, but Arco also sounds good--it's nice to hear about other good tire experiences!
