I watched a hawk devour a squirrel in my back yard a few weeks ago. I live not far from Tufts.

There's this:

http://www.wickedlocal.com/somerville/news/x1743989471/Man-arrested-for-sex-assault-sunday-on-Dearborn-Road#axzz1LiTDVm6c

I found a couple of break-ins, but nothing else of great notice.

I took a walk on campus and the nest in on the top of the back fire escape on Robinson Hall.

The nest in on a fire escape. .. umm, shouldn't the fire escape be clear in case of ... um .. a fire?

There may be laws governing not disturbing a wildbird nest that trump fire safety, or at least can be bent for a short while.

really unhappy ending to this story

Here's the update from CBS news. They re-located the mother to Blue Hills, took the chicks out of the nest and will put them in "foster" nests, and destroyed the nest.

From the CBS article:
"Some witnesses reported seeing someone climb the fire escape on that building before the attack. Whether that happened or not, officials say they can’t take any chances with the agitated hawk, especially with Tufts graduation ceremonies coming up."

If this is true, then the dumb-ass deserved what he got.
