I just switched my kids to Al-Aswad dental in Teele Sq. They were great. There is a very small playroom, videos to distract kids while in the dental chair, a selection of kid-friendly flavors of toothpaste and fluoride. I can't comment on the breastfeeding-friendly aspect, but the two different dentists we saw were both women, if that makes a difference.
I will also add that we previously went to Cambridge Pediatric Dental on Mass Ave. They were very good dentists, but I always ended up having billing issues. Maybe that was just my bad luck. Cambridge Pediatric was also more expensive. I was quoted $100/tooth for sealants. Al-Aswad was $75/tooth.
out of curiosity, what are the dental concerns with EB? is it worry that an uninformed dentist might tell you to stop because you'll mess up their bite/palette (sort of like concerns with the pacifier?)? I am also EB, but never even thought about looking for a dentist with experience....
I want someone who will promptly treat any dental problems that might occur that would negatively impact breastfeeding, treating them as the emergency I would consider them to be. In other words, should, say, my manic toddler manage to badly chip a tooth (as I have certainly known toddlers of my acquaintance to do) I want a dentist who will actually cap it and treat it as a urgent matter. (It won't most likely affect anything else, but a chipped tooth can make breastfeeding horribly painful.)
Kool Smiles in the Galleria at Porter Square. They do adult dentistry as well (I go there) but they specialize in pediatric dentistry. I've had nothing but good experiences with them.
