Somerville Police Looking to Identify Robbery Suspect.

Somerville Police are seeking to identify the suspect who robbed a local gas station.  On July 12th, at about 8:45 p.m., the Sunoco Gas Station at 541 Broadway was robbed at knifepoint.  The store surveillance video shows the suspect arriving in a black sedan, possibly a Nissan Maxima, with a towel covering it’s license plate, then entered the store and walked up to the counter, where he spoke briefly to the clerk.  The suspect then went back to his car briefly.  He then came back into the store where he calmly walks behind the counter, pulled out a knife and demanded cash.  The suspect fled the store with an undisclosed amount of cash, jumped into the car and fled toward Medford.

The suspect is described as a white male, heavy set, over 6 feet tall, with a visible belly, wearing a distinct red and white color baseball cap, dark red jersey with black lines with a black or blue color trousers.  The suspect was also wearing sneakers.  A You Tube video of the surveillance video is available on our web page, www.somervillema.gov/spd.  The link to the video is included below.

Thanks for posting this. In the future, it's best to post such announcements as ordinary plain text (using the HTML tab), not Rich Text. Thanks.

I find it amusing that the guy apparently went in, realized he forgot his weapon, and so went out to the car to get it. *Then* robbed the place.

Yeah, but it's pretty sad to see an armed robbery taking place as a form of amusement these days.
