Ride to Harvard Square (there are several ways to do this, but none involve bike paths), then take the bike path on either side of the Charles River. If you start on the Cambridge side, cross over to the Boston side on either the River Street or Western Avenue bridge sidewalk.
You'll pass a bridge over Storrow Drive with steps; this isn't the one you want. Continue past it to the next bridge over Storrow, which has a long ramp at either end. Continue down the alley (Back Street) for another block, then turn right on Deerfield Street which leads right into Kenmore Square.
Those look good thanks! Though I wish there was a bike path that linked davis or north cambridge to harvard square, I really hate biking on the roads around here.
If you don't like Mass. Ave. or Oxford Street, you could go the long way around, through the Yerxa Road underpass to quiet Sherman and Garden streets in Cambridge. Something like this.
ETA: Now that I'm looking at that map again, I see that Raymond Street looks like a useful shortcut, and one I've never tried due to force of habit. Less busy than Sherman Street too. Next time!
