Zing Pizza was closed the last two (?) weeks in August for vacation and has not reopened yet. I called the other day, and their message says they are experiencing a reorganization and will be closed indefinitely. I asked the people at Cafe Zing and all they would tell me is, yes, closed indefinitely. I asked if they would ever open again, and they told me to assume that they won't, and if they do, I'll be pleasantly surprised.

this is disappointing. their pizza is really good.

anyone know any more information?

I hope the cafe is staying open?

I know the building was sold this past summer so perhaps the "reorganization" is a reflection of the negotiations with the new landlord. But this is just speculation.

The owner's comments on their Facebook page sounded more upbeat and certainly seemed to assume that they were opening again, eventually. Based on some comments he made about "probably" having various menu items, my guess was that they're looking for a new cook or management. But that's just a guess. I'll miss them! I love the Blue October.

I didn't know they had a Facebook page. Maybe one of us should place a link to this LJ post on their Wall?

The cafe is staying open.

The Pizza shop will only reopen if a new investor can be found. The owner is trying to sell it. This has nothing to do with the new landlord, but rather simply him getting tired of running it.

D: Good gluten-free pizza is hard to find.

Hm. If they do re-open, I hope they work a bit on their product. One of my partners is gluten intolerant, and we used to order from them routinely; we stopped about 6 months ago because the quality of their pizza had declined precipitously (read: augured into the ground, leaving an enormous smoking hole, as measured over something like 6 or 7 pies). Haven't found a replacement that delivers (Sacco's/Flatbread makes a nice gluten free pizza, but does not, alas, deliver, to my knowledge).

their vendor for the gluten free crust was Glutenous minimus (sp?), I'd bet they are google-able. Also, I think there is a place in Brookline that sells them...

They were good! Maybe flatbread is cutting into their biz?
