Does anyone know if there are any liquor or import stores around here that carry perry? Alternatively, going beyond the bounds of Davis Square, are there any New England orchards that make it?

ETA: Specifically, either the true British perry, or a local variation.

I haven't looked lately, but in past years I've seen Woodchuck Pear Cider at Downtown Wine & Spirits.

Ball Square Fine Wine has a couple of selections. They are the more commercially available ones, but one is an English import.

i agree - though just in the [apple] cider sense. once one has had good apple cider (like scrumpy), woodchuck is not good enough anymore. fine in stew though ;)

oh, one might try to find pear lambic too.

Pretty sure, though not 100%, that I've seen one from West County Cider at Downtown... And I know Russell's Orchard up in Ipswich makes a perry, but I don't know who stocks it (if any) in town.

Nashoba Valley Winery used to have perry. I haven't been apple-picking this year, so I can't confirm whether or not it still does. The website seems to imply it, though.

Craft Beer Cellar in Belmont usually has a perry or two (and their available beverages are always on their site)

Where's Perry?

I would try the The Wine & Cheese Cask (in Cambridge at Kirkland and Beacon).

Ball Square also enjoys a challenge, and has told me(*) if it has a US distributor, they'll get their hands on it. (* technically, they told this to a visiting friend from England who was impressed at their selection. They noticed the accent and figured he was pining for the old country, I think. :)
