Thanks for the concern; it really means a lot to us. [I'm not sure who you are. Have we talked IRL?]

That's a really good idea if we ended up in a tougher spot again -- I'd actually had a similar thought.

On a related note, AJ & I have had many discussions regarding how screwed up it is that, the more desperately one needs something, the more opposed some people are to allowing that person to receive what they need. So sometimes protesters are allowed to participate in urban camping but homeless folks are not, for example. [I'm thinking and writing broadly, with all of the various Occupy ______ protests in mind. I know that arrests and abuse have taken place, and am well-aware that I've been too preoccupied with our stressful situation to keep up much with news.] Another example: the week leading up to Shakespeare in the Park in Davis, someone from Theatre@First was allowed to sleep in a tent to watch over the stage and equipment, but we would not have been allowed to set up and sleep in a tent in the park. I hope it's obvious that I'm not begrudging the folks in either example anything, just comparing situations...

Even being out in Davis selling jewelry, it often felt like I had the hardest time making a sale when we needed it the most, even if our outlook and projected moods were still upbeat. (Of course it was even harder when we were just plain miserable because we were having difficulty meeting basic needs.) It's a really interesting dynamic.
