What's your favorite Chinese place that will deliver to Davis? More veg-friendly is good. This is for dinner tonight, so be quick! :)

Thanks.

(And not Wang's, which used to be our go-to. Still love their dumplings but the last two few we got food there, it just wasn't very good otherwise, and the delivery was problematic.)

Any idea what changed at Wang's? I also got one or two things that weren't quite as good as usual recently, but we're not giving up yet.

Our other go-tos are East Asia, though we more often get Thai there, and recently we've been fond of Dragon Garden in a weird suburban Chinese food nostalgia kind of way.

Probably too late now, but I like Wok and Roll in Porter. I haven't tried any of their veg-only dishes, but the veggies in their meat-enabled dishes usually taste nice and fresh. (They deliver to my house near Inman, so I assume they would also deliver to Davis.)

Let us know how it is. I've never tried Wok & Roll.

[livejournal.com profile] thorbol and I used to like Wok and Roll when we lived in Porter Square. I'm glad they're still going strong. How was dinner?

I really like Wok n Roll too! Love love love their eggplant!!!! (I do ask for them to tone down the spice, though...)

I love Wok 'n' Roll - I adore the fact that they offer brown rice with the all-day specials!

We also just received a Wang's order that was pretty bad. Their veggies with tofu in particular was inedible. We have vowed not to order anything but dumplings from them again. Sadly, Wok n' Roll is probably too far from us for them to deliver.

Too late now for you, OP, I imagine, but for anyone else: we've been getting Kee Kar Lau for ages, and their food is always very good. Delivery is usually timely as well. I particularly like their General Gau's Chicken, which always arrives crispy, and which has a sauce that tastes (as it should) of ginger. Yum. Good rangoons, too.

Is that the one right in Teele? Oo! I've been passing by now that I live in Teele, and pleased that they are open late.

They're my go-to these days, especially for the Gau.

Qingdao Garden is our go-to place. Awesome dumplings, but try anything from their Northern or House Specials either.

That, or Zoe's (the Zoe's Chinese place in Somerville on Beacon St, not Zoe's the sandwich/deli/breakfast joint on Mass Ave in Cambridge).

I think when I last biked Beacon St I noticed Zoe's had a new name/look, possibly implying not even Zoe's anymore. Anyone have any idea what happened there? (Or did I just thoroughly confuse myself, which is also plausible?)

Really?

Can someone tell me what they order from this place? I've tried this place twice and have tried all the dumpling. I frankly find the dumplings to be horrible in comparison to anything from Chinatown.

They moved across the street (next to the old Danny's Diner) and revamped their look, but I think it was only because they were expanding. The food's still good, and the atmosphere inside is better than at the old place. In the old place, there's a Pho joint, and I've eaten there once and didn't care for it, but other people have told me they like it.

Aha! OK, hadn't looked on the other side of the street, since my attention was drawn to "Hey, that's not Zoe's anymore? Pho? I wonder what's going on?"

Glad to hear they're still there and well.

Yes, I love Zoe's! It's a bit expensive though. When I want the cheap, super-Americanized kind of Chinese food, I order from Dragon Garden in Davis.
