My decision to be an Inappropriately Sexy Polar Bear for Halloween is now looking like a stroke of genius.

The thundersnow last night was pretty cool, though. I was at the Armory cafe last night listening to ghost stories. Around 9 pm, in the middle of a story, we saw a huge flash of light through the window behind the stage, followed immediately by a loud crashing sound. So little time passed between the lightning and the thunder that I wonder if it hit some house on Spring Hill.

I dunno, I'm kind of excited. I was so sad last year when we didn't get any snow at all until after Christmas! But I'm a weirdo who works from home and doesn't mind shoveling, so. ;)

As someone who has regular childhood memories of snow around Halloween, I kind of can't help but be entertained by the ZOMGSNOW. Yeah, yeah, I know- coastal areas shouldn't get much snow and it's early, but...*shrugs* I like winter.

Yeah, my first thought when I saw the post was, "Well, not ALL of us..."

Admittedly, I don't drive, and my landlady lives upstairs, so snow has less negative impact on me than it does many people (and I have a much stronger tolerance for both cold and "inclement weather" than most people generally -- hot&humid is my nemesis).

Yeah, I'm definitely in the "eff you, winter" camp, but on the other hand, we've been spoiled with unseasonably warm weather the past few Halloweens, so I guess we were due.

Indeed! It's from a relatively obscure TPB called Bloodborne. The art's awesomely trippy and the plot is full of love.

seasonally not unusual weather, check.

it's been snowing 2 hours north for weeks now, check.

just nature's friendly way of saying "oh, yeah, in case you hadn't forgotten, get ready!"

The Jeanne Jugan (sp?) Nun's somethingorother center across the street from the Armory has lightning rods on top of it, and it gets hit all the time. The church up on the top of the hill too. They lost a mulberry tree across from the church, in front of the school, several years ago due to lightning, and thought it was a miracle that when the tree fell it just missed the statue of Mary in the yard by a foot or something.

We, on the other hand, just thought it was a sad, but awesome, way to easily pick the mulberries, as the tree was right in the middle of fruiting season. :-)
