Does anyone know where I can find shrimp chips of the type that may come with certain Chinese dishes- round, very fluffy/foamy and sometime multicolored? I like the small rectangular shrimp chips that come in a bag that seem more like shrimp fries, but sometimes I just want a bunch of the big flat round kind. ( Here's an example of what I'm talking about) Chinatown/Super88 hasn't exactly been helpful.

Thanks!

maybe...?

H Mart in Burlington? Mostly Korean, but I've had luck with finding other Asian goodies there.

it was funny; I used to order the japanese foods for Pandemonium Books, and I ordered a pile of those because I love them, and was certain that they might not sell rapidly, but that people who loved them would squee upon seeing them. They actually sold incredibly rapidly; someone came in 2 days after we stocked them, and bought them ALL.

Pandemonium does not do the japanese foods thing anymore, but I got the supplier name from Reliable Market in Union Square. They had them last time I was there, but that was about 6 weeks back (look near the Pocky section). If they *do not* have them, though, they can get them, because I know their supplier does carry them, in several brands.

Maybe Miso in Porter Square or the little Asian Market on Mass Ave next to
Qing Dao and Hanna Sushi?

I saw them at Reliable Market in Union the last time I was there a few weeks ago.

Which Super88 did you try? I was pretty sure I'd seen them at the one in Malden.

Ebisuya in Medford Sq. has that kind of stuff also. Not sure about that exact kind, but I know that they have shrimp-flavored items (as I didn't like the kind I bought!).

Yeah — I'm pretty sure I've seen them in the Allston Super 88 (technically Hong Kong Supermarket now). But availability of any given item is hit or miss on any given day there.

Huh. Weird! I thought I saw 'em at Super88 when I was there.

Sounds like you've got some good leads on buying them. If you feel like just a few with dinner, they come with several of the dishes we order from the Ginger Exchange (they're on Foodler). Enjoy!

The Asian super market that's down by South Station definitely has them. Or did 6 - 8 months ago. The big one with the parking garage on top of it.

Miso on Mass Ave. might, but I haven't checked/looked for them there.

I believe Ho Yuen Bakery in Chinatown sells the multicolored kind? I think I've seen them in the window.
