Stolen bike alert

Hi folks,
My husband's bike just got stolen from where it was locked in Davis Square Plaza (with the tattoo shop and the Davis Square Family Practice) this morning between 11 and noon.
He's already called in a police report and is checking Craigslist, but on the off chance:

It's a Specialized Roubaix Comp 2006 or 2007 (I believe), shiny black carbon bike with yellow/grey highlights. It has higher handlebars than most, and a layback seatpost with a Flite saddle on it. It also had two notable stickers on it: a silvery peacock and a Macaw (I like to sticker-bomb bikes).

Anyway, we're not too hopeful, but you never know!

Working on finding a pic...the good news is that I put out a plea with my bike club and someone actually saw a guy with the bike on the T, and noticed it seemed odd since it is a bike with clipless pedals and the guy didn't seem to have shoes with him.
So, fingers crossed!

What sort of lock did you use, and what was it locked to? Did the thief leave behind a broken lock?

Mine was stolen earlier this year. I wish there was a camera on the bike racks at the Davis stop. I knew just about exactly when it was stolen and could easily have given the police a picture of the person who did it if I could have looked through the footage. Seems like a really cheap way to deter crime. I know some people don't like the big brother feeling of having cameras like that but personally I've given up on riding my bike around Somerville b/c I've had 3 stolen now...no lock is truly safe. I'd get an old/cheap one that no one would like, but I also ride long miles for exercise and don't have enough room to store a bunch of bikes in my apartment. It's also crazy expensive to try and insure bikes on your renter's insurance. According to the police, there is a already camera focused only on the cross walk there, maybe in case there is a hit and run. Anyway, hope you get your bike back.

Randomname7, I'm so sorry. We do have screen shots of the thief + bike getting onto the T (I have a friend at the T which helped) and we need to follow up with the Somerville detectives. Would be so amazing if we could catch one of these guys. I know for many of us, bikes are not toys but transportation and more.

(and I wouldn't have expected the person to get onto the T - I mean, isn't that what a bike is for??)
