They did, but since the cell carriers lost towers that were on top of the World Trade Center, cell service in the city was a bigger mess, and for some people, it stayed messy afterwards. One of my good friends who lived in lower Manhattan ended up canceling his Sprint contract because the service was so bad after 9/11. So anyway, my real concern is power outages or other events that would take out cell towers.
