Day Street is closed

Day Street is currently closed to traffic from Orchard to Herbert. NSTAR is doing some work and they're digging up the pavement. As of half an hour ago there were no policemen directing traffic. Heads up, my mother in law just had to drive the wrong way down the street to get to our driveway.

They claim work will be finished by tonight, so most commuters should be fine, thankfully.

I haven't, I'm stuck home sick unfortunately. The main problem seems to be the part of Day St between Orchard and Herbert, as it's a one way, but it certainly must affect the traffic flow overall. Chester's a one way in the opposite direction, so they'd have to drive into the square to get to the parking lot.

Farmer's market seems normal, except that when it's this warm, shouldn't they have raspberries and corn and cherry tomatoes for sale? ;-)

Remember that they now close at 5 pm due to standard time darkness.

Also some NSTar work, I think, was closing off part of College Ave and the sidewalk nearby up by Powderhouse rotary, this morning.

They did have an officer, but it was very unclear what the heck they wanted pedestrians to do and the officer was pretty perfunctory about making sure we had a safe way to get around the project. Sigh.

I guess the Day St. stuff won't matter to me cos odds are I won't be able to get there in time.

heh, I wonder if I saw you this morning - someone went that way through the detour ahead of me and got similarly stared at.
