If you missed both the Illuminations Trolley Tour and the Illuminations Bicycle Tour this weekend, you've still got plenty of time to see Somerville's festive holiday lights.
Starting tomorrow, Magpie in Davis Square and Blue Cloud Gallery in Ball Square will sell trolley tour maps for $3, benefiting the Somerville Arts Council. Also, we now have Google maps of all three tours online:
East/Central Somerville Illuminations Trolley route. This is the traditional trolley route through Winter Hill and East Somerville. The Arts Council made this map but did not mark the individual houses on it.
Somerville Illuminations Bicycle route. Brian Postlewaite and I made this one, which covers much of the same territory as the trolley route but in a more bicycle-friendly way. We marked all of the major lit houses on this map.
West Somerville Illuminations Trolley route. For the first time ever, the Arts Council sent some of its trolleys westward to see well-lit houses not on its traditional route. Also worth checking out are a few houses that weren't on either trolley route:
- 13 Melvin Street (we put this on the bike route)
- The fork between Alpine and Princeton streets
- The 'valley' of Sycamore Street, with multiple colorfully lit houses
