Even if a postal worker could deliver to 2 addresses per minute, that's still a limit of around 750 a day, assuming 6 solid hours of deliveries and no down time.
More realistically, (going by the job postings on uk and US postal service websites), a postal worker would cover 3-6 miles a day. Somerville has ~8000 addresses per square mile, which is equivalent to a linear distribution of 90 houses per linear mile. at 6 miles per day, that's still only 550 houses per worker. It isn't like there is a swarm of postal workers that go zip code by zip code, delivering to the entire area in a 2 hour window.)
