Looking for a book

Does anyone have a copy of Warm Bodies by Isaac Marion that I could borrow/have/buy from them? Alternately do you know of a bookstore that actually has one in stock? I need this for a book club and I'm having no luck finding it. Library is not an option as I have a lost book with them (it's in a box from when I moved and as soon as I unearth it I'm returning it). Help please? Thanks! :)

Barnes & Noble in Saugus seems to have it in stock, according to the B&N website. I don't know how doable that is for you transportation-wise, but I thought I'd throw it out there.

I need to have it read in 10 days, so getting it shipped is not an option, if I had realized how hard it would be to find it locally I would have done this first.

No, that's the issue, if I could drive all the way out there I would, but sadly it's not an option.

It seems to be readily available in Somerville, Cambridge, and Arlington libraries. If the library won't let you check it out, perhaps you can send a friend to the library to check it out for you?

According to that, having an overdue book doesn't prevent you from getting more books except at the librarian's discretion. Find a nice librarian and explain that the book is not lost, just buried, and you'll pay the overdue fines once you find it. They might just let you check out another book.

It might be too late to try renewing the book on the phone, but that depends on how nice the person you're talking to is.

Or you could pay retail + $5 and declare the book lost, making you able to get books out of the library again. When you find the book, it's yours. Or donate it back to the library.

It depends on how much your time and money is worth to you, and how much you'll use your library card until you find the book.


Alternately, go with vonelftinhaus' option: get it from Amazon, and choose one-day or two-day shipping. You'll get it Thursday or Friday.

Any of the above options really- as ringrose covers them all. I suggest Amazon quick ship if there is a need for other items you could hit the free shipping mark Or I had in mind as an Ebook as there are other formats and not just stuck in the kindle app. Sort out the library scenario

It's actually the Boston library as I lived within their area (live in the suburbs now and that library has a wait list a mile long) and just work in Cambridge. Don't know if they will give you a library card for just working in the area.

I'm trying to keep costs down which is why I was trying to shop local in the first place, really don't want to pay for express shipping.

I'll try them and avecvu commented that two local stores have it, so yay! :)

The reason I didn't just do Amazon in the first place was that I was trying to keep costs down, express shipping is really out of my budget range, if I realized how hard it would be to find local I would have just done the super saver shipping in the first place.

The Cambridge, Somerville, Arlington, Medford, and Belmont libraries (as well as most other suburbs) are part of the Minuteman Library Network. If your suburb's library is part of this network, you can use your card at any other library in the network.

Also, odds are high that the Somerville/Arlington/Cambridge/etc library will not know about BPL overdue fees.

Almost certainly true -- the BPL and Minuteman are separate systems with separate library cards.

I'm not sure what the system is there, I'm in Stoughton, I know it includes a few surrounding towns, but this just seems to be a super popular book right now.

According to the page I linked you need proof of residency for Somerville. Ron's suggestion, though, was that you go to your suburb library (the one you said has a long waiting list for the book) and see if it's part of the Minuteman Library network. If so, you can just take that library's card to Cambridge, Somerville, etc and use it.

Stoughton is not part of Minuteman, but it is part of another network, Old Colony Library Network. The Stoughton catalog says that you should be able to borrow the book in nearby Sharon or Brockton, as well as some other towns that are further away from Stoughton.

Really? Nifty when I checked the other day it was all checked out even at nearby places. I thought it was nifty how they let you see all that, libraries have come a long way since I used to volunteer at one!

Sorry, missed your link. It's not a minuteman library, they have their own local network. And it seems a couple copies have come back in & this has all been for nought anyway, but thank you!
