trouble posting comments...

This is new - LJ won't allow posting of my comments in response to others' postings. Was I bad? Am I being punished? What a pain...

Anyway - for the person who asked about bathroom remodeling - I've had a good experience with my handyman, who did a great job on a basic upgrade for my tenant's bathroom, and he made sure the tenant had full use of the bathroom during the remodel: Kris, 617-230-5050

What do you mean by "won't allow posting comments" ? What error message are you getting, and where are you trying to post the comments?

I'm pretty sure that none of the moderators here have banned you.

Grayed-out "Post Comment" button? Happening to me, too.

Work around: where the url says "mode=reply#add_comment", change it to "mode=reply&style=mine#add_comment".

Something is not working right in the default style. I think what's happening is that LJ is having performance problems (Or it's at the other end. I'm on Comcast; you?) such that all of the necessary automation for the commenting widget to work doesn't load. The button is grayed out until all of the relevant javascript is downloaded, and if there's any performance problems, all that js may never arrive, and the button doesn't ever go live.

The old automation is smaller and loads faster and generally works better.

Note: if, in the old style, after writing your comment and hitting "Post Comment", it grays out and never posts, select all your comment text, cut it, and then do a force-reload of the page (in most browsers, hold down the shift key while clicking the refresh button), then paste your comment back in and resubmit.

Not happening to me with Google Chrome on Snow Leopard. What browser are you using? (A while ago I recall hearing about problems like this on Firefox)

For me, the button changes from gray to live as soon as I type the first character. (And then it goes back to gray if I delete all of the typed-in text.)

It's working fine now. I'm on Camino 2.0.9. I'm pretty sure from other stuff that it was a time-out problem, and not browser specific.
