Bike theft
Apr. 14th, 2012 02:08 pmSometime very recently, my bicycle was stolen from outside my apartment in south Medford. This is about a 15 minute walk from Davis Square. For all intents and purposes, if you are reading this, there are bike thieves in your neighborhood.
Yes, I am reporting it to the police.
Yes, I would love it if people would keep their eyes out for it... But at the moment I am still so angry I can't remember the make... It's blue...
There is one place that sells bikes that I've always thought looked sketchy, but I'm not going to point fingers. I am going to browse what they have for sale just in case anything looks familar.
I was stupid and only had a regular lock on it, because my U-lock is rusted beyond usability. Please don't make my mistake. I knew I was being stupid, but I told myself I'd get a new lock soon, but I didn't do it in time. Funny thing is, my lock wasn't actually cut. The fence is very slightly damaged, bur not in a way that would have released the bike. I'm puzzled.
Anyway, moral of the story, people are scumbags, keep your bike as safe as possible.

Date: 2012-04-14 07:00 pm (UTC)I've often wondered about the house that sells used bikes on Elm Street next door to the Porter Square Shaw's shopping center ....
ETA: If you still have the store receipt from when you bought the bike, it may have the bike's make, model, and serial number on it.
