Looking for a 2BR near the redline

My husband and I are finally moving back to Boston (former Ball Sq/Powderhouse Circle residents) and we'd love to find a place near the Redline. I'm finishing med school and will start work at Boston Medical Center, my hubbie works at NPR. If you didn't know us when we lived here a few years ago, I'm sure we know people in common!

We're looking for
-2BR
-allows cats (we have two)
-preferably deleaded, but at least well-maintained (we're expecting our first baby)
-preferably under $2000

Anyone know of any leads?

Medford. (If you're willing to take a bus into Davis, you can find a 2 bedroom of your description for well under $2000/month, and it's really hard to tell when you're no longer in Somerville.)

My husband and I are moving out of our 1.5 bedroom this summer, in case you're interested! (I say 1.5 because there's a huge master bedroom and a smaller room off of the kitchen that probably wouldn't be ideal as a second bedroom for an adult, but my husband uses it as a study and it works great for that.)

We're about 10 minutes' walk from Davis Square, have two cats ourselves, and the apartment has all the amenities and is *very* well maintained. We love it and would be staying if my new job weren't taking us to the midwest in July!

We currently pay $2000 and can't say for sure whether the landlord would raise the rent with a new lease in September, but let me know if you're at all interested and I can give you all the info!

Sadly I'll be working in the Southend. Somerville makes it a T and a bus, but Medford makes it a bus a T and a bus.

Don't rule out Medford entirely. If you get an apartment near Wellington in Medford, you can take the OJ line to the south end.
