Selling CDs

I have over 100 CDs, maybe 200 of them, that I haven't listened to in over a year so I figure why not sell them, and use the proceeds to get one of those ipods. So... wondering where in the metro area people suggest are the best places to sell CDs. A few years ago, I sold a box worth to Newbury Comics for about $1 a pop. I'd prefer to get cash and not credit. Thanks. And if anyone on this list is interested in seeing them, let me know too.

I've always had tremendous luck at the Strawberries in Watertown (in the Watertown Mall across from the Arsenal Mall). I know it seems random, but they tend to overpay for total crap. I've come away with some nice amounts of cash from there.

Also, depending on what you have, I may be interested. Here's my list (http://www.leadpencil.net/cdlist.html), if you think I might be interested in some of what you have, please let me know!

I'd buy your Ed's Redeeming Qualities CDs. How much do you want for them?

Hmm, I was actually posting that list for [livejournal.com profile] guxx's benefit to see if she had anything that fit my taste, but seeing as I really don't listen to them, I'd entertain offers (one of them is in a plastic slipcase -- it came that way -- but has liner notes and cover art and everything)

ten for the plastic slipcase one and five bucks for the other two- so twenty for the three?

OK, my mistake, the plastic slipcase one ("At the Fish and Game Club") is actually only the CD (a promo, but not a CD-R) and a cardboard sheet with info about the album (no art). The other two discs, however, are in really good shape. I checked around and couldn't find anyone selling "More Bad Times" anywhere, so does $20 still sound good for the three? Feel free to e-mail: georgy at leadpencil dot net :-)

Wow. Nice. Even down to the album by the "Trachtenburg Family Slideshow Players".

I was surprised, though, that you don't have anything by Jim's Big Ego (http://www.bigego.com) or Honest Bob and the Factory-to-Dealer Incentives (http://honestbob.net/).

(And also surprised by, but a little less, the absense of The Nields (http://www.nields.com) [the full band] and Eddie From Ohio (http://www.efohio.com).)

(And I should stop reading your list... 'cause seeing Dressy Bessy in it makes me notice you also don't have Sissy Bar or Go Sailor, for instance.)

Hmm, you know, I tried Jim's Big Ego, and they just didn't do it for me. I ended up selling back the one CD I bought. Can't say I've ever heard of Honest Bob.

As for the Nields and Eddie From Ohio, I've almost bought an album by the former a dozen times (but still never have), and I've been intending to getb into the latter for a few years, since everything I've heard by them is good. Alas.

What JBE album did you try? I could see a poor choice of album leading to someone being turned off. JBE is much cooler live -- the banter and the improv is half the show, plus you might get a better mix of songs. Jim is also very cool, insightful, operates in other medias (like doing his own Flash videos for the band), and can be interesting for his forays into issues like music downloading etc. But if you don't like the music, you don't like it. :) Just figured that, given the TMBG, Fruvous, Bruce McCulloch, Great Big Sea, Jump Little Children, Cake, etc ... that JBE was likely a good fit.
