After a year of exile in Quincy, I am moving back to Somerville! (big kermit wavy hands).
The rest of this post gets rambly, so here is the tl;dr: 3 bedroom house, near Clarendon on the 87 bus, street parking and a driveway for one car, my name is Stephanie, and my email address is thespian@sleepingcat.com. The people who live there are moving out this weekend; I will be able to show it towards the end of the week. I will be out of town, though answering emails, from the 10th to the 16th.
The Rest
I am looking for people to share a huge apartment in Somerville, near Clarendon, less than a mile out of Davis. I would like people who are interested in staying put for a while, and off the 'let's move every September bandwagon' :-) The landlord currently lives upstairs, but is moving out to a farm. He is a friend of mine and very good about maintenance. He is replacing the stove in the kitchen and doing some other work this month.
The apartment is on two levels; one room, in the basement, is about 70% of the size of a typical 3-story building; a great room for gaming, house concerts, Rock Band, etc. The upstairs has a good sized kitchen, dining room/shared space, and a half front room, with stairs to the lower part of the place. There are 3 legal bedrooms (2 on the first floor, one downstairs), and a room (downstairs) that could be used as a supplementary room, spare bedroom for guests, or a home office. If the apartment is split 3 ways, it will be $650 a person; if someone wants to lease the office/work/supplemental room, it will be $500 each for the rooms on the main floor, and $475 each for the ones downstairs. I have decided which room I am living in, but other than that the place is totally shapeable for use right now. Landlord wants first and last, no security.
There is a washer and dryer on the premises. Utilities are not included, but will be about $20-30 a month. I do not have a tv or cable; I have a Roku and Hulu Plus. I will be getting internet.
About me: I am a sometime bartender, web developer, and working with the Puppet Showplace on my puppetry skills (making & performing) with a hope to take it up a level. I currently am on web dev contract to MIT's CSail for a robotics project. I also run a small hobby business making syrups, garnishes and such for craft bar use. I have been working at home, and am hoping to move to a professional kitchen this winter. I am an adventurous omnivore, and this might not be the kitchen to share if you have food allergies, gluten issues, or do not want pork products or alcohol in your house (sometimes both; last year I was experimenting with bacon fat washing bourbon).
I have a cat, small, who loves you. No, really. Many people in the DSLJ have met her, and this cat has no discriminatory powers whatsoever. You are a person, and she is confident you think she's great, and she adores you. Please do not disillusion her. If you do not pet her, but wave your arms around while talking, she will follow them. We recently lost Ulysses, our elder statesman cat, and small is a little bereft; she has always had other cats around. We would really like another cat to live with us; so if you have been at a loss because you come with cats and cannot find a place, please feel welcome!
