Fun article, but odd. One page all Taza, then a second page skimming the rest of Somerville. Lots of mentions of artists, but nothing about Somerville Open Studios.
Cool article. One little nitpick: the Porter Square T station wind sculpture is not in Somerville, though it's just a few hundred feet over the city line.
Also, the writer is a time traveler from the future, since she got on the T at the airport and got off in Union Square ;-)
Ah, this must be after the Greater Camberville War, which began when a radio song selection competition went horribly wrong and citizens took to the streets in an attempt to regain their human rights like the ability to park legally without getting a ticket.
Here's what she said, and Davis Square LJ users, you have your marching orders!
Hello Rachel,
Thanks for your thoughtful note. I'd like to cover Somerville again, but it took me months to find an editor who realized that although Somerville is not famous, it is worth covering. The only way I might receive another assignment is if I can prove to other editors that this current piece generated a lot of interest and readership
So, I hope that you will add a comment, ... to the "Comments" section beneath the first page (webpage) of the online article. And click the Facebook share buttons...and encourage other people to do the same. Then the metrics will prove that there's interest and much happening in Somerville.
It wasn't a reference to a specific show. I think the author was just emphasizing the trend toward putting Shakespeare's plays into radically different settings from the originals and saying that we're the kind of theater company that does that sort of thing.
2025: Somerville annexes Porter Square, to help Cambridge stay afloat. The parking lot of Porter Square shopping center will have a green roof installed above it which becomes a community garden. People will grow their own fruits and veggies and have a barter-driven farmers' market on Saturdays.
It doesn't matter if she does or not. She's not the one who needs convincing, and an LJ thread isn't going to show editors they can get page hits.
If we want more attention for our artists, creators, and local businesses, we have to take to the social media, post positive comments about the article and Somerville and show the traditional media machine that we're a place to notice.
