apparently because our yard is near an intersection, people have chosen to make it a dumping ground for random stuff. I'm betting someone wants this particular stuff back: a ring of (now rather dirty and damp) shopper's cards with 15 cards, one of which is a Costco gold star member's card. send me a message identifying a reasonable number of the others to verify it's yours.

EDIT: owner found!

In many cases you can drop that card off at any one of the stores and they'll return it to the member.

Was this anywhere near Glenwood Rd? I had just such a ring taken from my car last night - apparently I forgot to hit the lock button after unloading that last armful of stuff 2 days previous. Someone hit at least 4 cars on our street.

I'm just composing a private message now . . .

Someone probably took them thinking they were credit cards. Costco cards usually have the member's photo on them, so identification ought to be easy, at least.

Yup, I'm sure that's what happened. They were mine & I have them back, but I think I used to have a TJ Maxx or Marshalls card that's missing from the ring, and that's the only one that can have stored value (for no-receipt or post-30-day returns) though I'm pretty sure it currently doesn't. And I haven't found the AAA membership card that was in the car, which appeared to be an AmEx debit card (though no account was ever created for it to access). They'll be disappointed to find the whole haul from my car was 5 quarters (I hope - unless there's something I didn't realize they got).

The police first appeared on our street when a neighbor's duffel was found on the street & reported, and I found on my drive & sidewalk a paper bag with plasticware/napkins/splenda packets, a plastic container which had held bandaids that ended up strewn all over my drive, and a zip-up pouch with the slippers that had been inside pulled out -- all apparently pulled from cars and then inspected for valuables.

I've heard of 4 cars that were hit; don't know if they were all unlocked, but I do know when this same thing happened a couple years ago (just cash taken that time) it was only unlocked cars (fortunately mine was locked that time), and you'd be amazed at what % of cars are unlocked in this city on any given night!

If your car is in range of your house, take my advice & give the lock button an extra tap as you close up & head for bed in the evening. You might just think you did earlier. I know I'm going to try to add that to my routine. :-)

Retagging as 'crime' now that I see what this was really about. Sorry this happened to you!
